Welcome to the Department of Radio, Television and Film (RTVF) at the University of North Texas. The RTVF Department offers the Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, and the Master of Fine Arts Degrees in Radio, Television and Film as well as the Bachelor of Arts degree in Converged Broadcast Media.
The department is recognized as one of the state's and nation’s leading programs in preparing students for careers across the media industries. Located in Denton (part of the top-five ranked Dallas-Fort Worth market), the RTVF program offers an outstanding faculty, a great learning facility, and co-curricular activities including KNTU-FM (our 100,000-watt radio station), North Texas Television (NTTV) and the Center for Spanish Language Media to provide a wonderful setting for study, learning, and professional experience.
Our undergraduate degree programs encompass both creative skills-based training along with theoretical knowledge covering history, criticism, management, economics, and policy -- all built upon a strong liberal arts foundation. We also offer several certificate programs.
In addition to our long-standing two-year Master of Arts programs in industry studies and critical/cultural studies, we also offer the terminal Master of Fine Arts degree in documentary production and studies. Graduates of this program have gone on to successful careers in the U.S. and international documentary arenas, as well as being hired as faculty members at the university level.
