Welcome to the Department of Radio, Television and Film (RTVF) at the University of North Texas. The RTVF Department offers the Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Master of Sciences and the Master of Fine Arts Degrees in radio, television and film as well as the Bachelor of Arts degree in Electronic News – an innovative shared major with the Department of Journalism. The department is recognized as one of the nation’s leading programs in film/digital production, documentary and media culture and industry studies. We have also been named one of the top programs in broadcast education in Leonard Mogel’s This Business of Television.

An outstanding faculty, a great learning facility, and co-curricular activities including KNTU-FM (our 100,000-watt radio station), North Texas Television (
NTTV – our faculty-led, student-run cable station) and the new Center for Spanish Language Media (CLSM) provide a wonderful setting for study and learning.

Our undergraduate degree programs encompass both creative skills-based training along with theoretical knowledge covering history, criticism, management, economics and policy, all built upon a strong liberal arts foundation. We also offer several certificate programs. This educational experience prepares students for many different career opportunities in and around the electronic media and film industries, as well as preparation for advanced study.

In addition to our long-standing Master of Arts/Master of Science program in industry studies and media history and criticism, we now offer the terminal Master of Fine Arts degree in documentary production and studies. Graduates of this program have gone on to successful careers in the international documentary arena and at the university level. For information on admission requirements for our graduate degrees, click Graduate Studies or contact the
Director of Graduate Studies.

We encourage you to explore our site. If you have any questions about our programs send an email to rtvf@unt.edu.
