Scholarships, Fellowships and Assistantships As of Fall 2008 all entering first year MFA students are eligible for a $1000 Academic Achievement Scholarship that includes a waiver of the out-of-state or foreign tuition rate. Students pay the in-state rate that is considerably less. This award is for first year MFA students with the possibility of renewal or other forms of aid in the following year(s). All entering MFA students are also eligible to be considered for a Toulouse School of Graduate Studies Masters Fellowship that includes a cash stipend and a waiver of all tuition and some fees. These awards are highly competitive and the RTVF department must nominate the student. Graduate students (MA, MS, MFA) may also apply for the Don Staples Scholarship for work in the second or third years. Graduate students may also apply for funds to be used toward travel expenses for presentation of papers or films at conferences and festivals and for thesis research. A limited number of paid graduate assistantships are awarded each year to new and continuing graduate students. Typically students assist in the teaching of large RTVF lecture classes. Opportunities are also available to assist in the management of campus radio station KNTU-FM, the department's cable channel NTTV, and in the research and creative activity of RTVF faculty members. Teaching and research assistantships carry a stipend, an out-of-state tuition waiver and basic medical benefits. Decisions on assistantships are normally made in March or April for the following fall semester. To apply for a graduate assistantship, complete an Assistantship Application Form and mail it with your resume to: Sam Sauls, Department of Radio, Television and Film, University of North Texas, 1155 Union Circle # 310589, Denton, TX 76203-5017. For other potential sources of financial aid contact the UNT Financial Aid office. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Additional information is available on: |
